Siege and Storm (Grisha Trilogy (Shadow and Bone))

Siege and Storm - Leigh Bardugo I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first. In many ways, it reminded me of Book 2 of the Hunger Games. In both cases, book 2 is very dark and sometimes hard to take. It was quite grim at times. The end had a twist I really wasn't expecting and I'm looking forward to book 3. I think I'd find it hard to reread this one but that will ultimately depend on how it all turns out.

Fortune's Pawn (Paradox Series)

Fortune's Pawn - Rachel Bach Solid space opera. I'm definitely invested enough in the very kick ass heroine to keep reading the series.

Shadow and Bone (Grisha Trilogy)

Shadow and Bone - Leigh Bardugo Loved, loved, loved this book.

The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography

The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography - Simon Singh Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Absolutely fascinating. I recommend this to any of my friends on the geeky end as it has lots of juicy technical bits. That said, don't be scared off by that as one could skim those bits and still really enjoy the historical aspects.

What Einstein Kept Under His Hat: Secrets of Science in the Kitchen

What Einstein Kept Under His Hat: Secrets of Science in the Kitchen - Sean Runnette, Robert L. Wolke, Marlene Parrish I like this series. Nice chunks (since it's based on newspaper columns), gentle humor, and great science.

The Mechanical Turk: The True Story of the Chess-playing Machine That Fooled the World

Shakespeare's Rome - Robert S. Miola Funny little piece of history that was absolutely fascinating. Tom Standage, as usual, writes wonderfully.

Parting the Desert: The Creation of the Suez Canal

Parting the Desert: The Creation of the Suez Canal - Zachary Karabell Great overview of the people and politics involved. For me, it's only 3 stars because I wanted way more engineering and that was mostly glossed over.
Dimension of Miracles - Robert Sheckley, John Hodgman John Hodgman (unsurprisingly) was an amazing narrator for this book. I'll agree with everything I've read about his being a precursor to Douglas Adams even though Adams had never read Sheckley prior to HHGTTG publication. Great stuff.

Critical Failures

Critical Failures - Robert Bevan Decent if you like the D&D players get sucked into role playing world trope.

Midnight Blue-Light Special: An Incryptid Novel

Midnight Blue-Light Special - Seanan McGuire I utterly adore these books. The Incryptid books (and short stories) are so much fun!

Chameleon

Chameleon - E.R. Torre This would be a great SyFy channel movie. If you want a thriller along those lines, give this a read and don't be put off by the irrelevant and shitty cover.

The Mad Scientist's Guide to World Domination: Original Short Fiction for the Modern Evil Genius

The Mad Scientist's Guide to World Domination: Original Short Fiction for the Modern Evil Genius - Diana Gabaldon, Carrie Vaughn, Theodora Goss, Laird Barron, Harry Turtledove, Jeffrey Ford, L.A. Banks, Daniel H. Wilson, Marjorie M. Liu, L.E. Modesitt Jr., Austin Grossman, David D. Levine, David Farland, Ben H. Winters, Heather Lindsley, Mary Robinette Kowal, John Jos Loved it. Oodles of fun.

Fledgling (Liaden Universe Novels)

Fledgling - Sharon Lee, Steve Miller Based on this one, I'll have to go look up the other Liaden Universe books.

The Emperor's Soul

The Emperor's Soul - Brandon Sanderson Sanderson rocks. I have no idea how he keeps coming up with such interesting magic systems.

Graveyard Shift

Graveyard Shift - Angela Roquet Really solid series.

Angel's Ink: The Asylum Tales

Angel's Ink - Jocelynn Drake Great new series.
